Christmas Shopping List
When shopping for family and friends, we take great pleasure in choosing beautiful gifts for them. Here are some of the things we like.
Marimekko’s soft, woollen scarves are large and generous – perfect for draping over a simple tunic dress as an accessory or for wrapping up against winter chills. The stunning designs and choice of colours inspire our creativity.
Mouki Mou is just around the corner from our Dorset Street café and we adore the beautiful Scandinavian brassware from Skultana. These distinctive Ballerina bowls are tactile and versatile.
Sometimes we like to like to play and we love Kristian Vedel’s wooden Birds, made by Architectmade from Skandium. Tilt their heads and they express every frame of mind – happy, sad, curious or alert. Turn them upside down and the female turns into a male. Lovingly handmade in Denmark.
We love the form, shape and comfort of Finsk’s leather footwear. Julia Lundsten’s designs show a genuine respect for natural materials and these practical mid-calf black leather boots with contrasting heel and sole detail are our choice.
Mid Century Modern Complete by Dominc Bradbury is a beautifully illustrated compendium of iconic and rare designs from the world of architecture and interior design. It covers everything from furniture, lighting, textiles and glass and ceramics through to graphics, posters and industrial design pieces. Educational and inspiring.
Klaus Haapaniemi’s Nordic style hand printed textiles are beautiful in every way. We love this ‘Running Hare’ silk twill cushion, inspired by folklore and nature.
Álvaro Siza is one of the most important and influential architects of our time and this monograph on his recent work showcases some of his latest ideas. ‘Álvaro Siza – the Function of Beauty’ by Álvaro Siza and Carlos Castanheira
Finnish synth band, Husky Rescue’s album ‘Ship of Light’ is our favourite. Uplifting, melodolic sounds that are truly evocative.
